The Research Airport hosts companies, research institutes as well as government agencies and federal offices in transportation technology. The system approach of the more than 40 partners is the future benefit at this location. 3,700 employees are working on safety, security and efficiency in transport everyday. Thus, the Research Airport covers the entire value chain of aircraft development – from aerodynamics to certification. Transfer of technology as well as the identification of cross sectional technologies is on the agenda.

The certification of safety-critical applications for Galileo, the civil satellite navigation system with service guarantee, is developed at the Research Airport. Among others, modern
automotive driver assistance systems are benefiting from this.

The Region of excellence in transport technologies has its hub at the research airport. Evidence is given by partners like ITS Niedersachsen, GAUSS, DLR and the Technical University of Braunschweig (TU) .Braunschweig is Europe‘s largest civil flight test center, hosting 11 dedicated experimental aircrafts and 16 simulators for flight and automotive research.

The Research Airport is a unique high tech location. The resident companies form a close network and cooperate in many projects. Contact to the experts of tomorrow is ensured
